The Flesch Reading Ease score ranges from 0-100. Higher scores mean easier reading. 60-70 is considered standard for most audiences, 80+ is easy, below 30 is very difficult.
For general web content, aim for a 7th-8th grade reading level (Flesch-Kincaid Grade 7-8). For technical documentation, 10th-12th grade is acceptable.
Syllables are estimated by counting vowel groups in each word. While not 100% accurate for all English words, it provides a reliable approximation for readability scoring.
